Meet The Team
We are the biology period 4 freshmen class of 2017 at Shepaug Valley School. We are trying to use the mechanics that oysters use in the ocean to re-create and make a water filter that can clean small ponds and beaches.
Fernando Pires

Hi, my name is Fernando Pires. I was born in Brazil but now I live in Washington, Connecticut. I attend Shepaug Valley School. I'm 15 years old, I enjoy playing soccer, volleyball, and track. My best friends are Connor, Ralph, Austin, Eamon, Thomas, and Isaac. We all hang out and play basketball in the summer. I want to get into a good college and play volleyball on the side for fun.

My name is Bianca Getzel I am 14 years old and I am a freshman at Shepaug Valley School. I was born and raised in Italy and 2 years ago I moved to Connecticut. At school I have met all my best friends and we always have fun. I love art and languages, I speak 3 currently. When I’m older I would like to go to college to then become an interpreter. I am excited to be part of this project which will mimic oysters to make a more efficient water filter.

Hey, my name is Thomas Roche. I am 15 years old and go to Shepaug. I do sports and played Hockey and Soccer so far for my high school. I enjoy playing drums and I also enjoy hanging out with my friends.

I have an older brother, two older step sisters, a younger sister, a younger step brother and my mom and my step father. In the future I want to travel a lot and be an artist. I would like to graduate Columbia College in NYC.

Hi, my name is Austin and people call me Dutch. I go to Shepaug Valley School and live in Washington, CT. I am 14 years old and I like to play baseball and competitively swim. My best friends are Connor, Fernando, Hunter, Thomas, Isaac, and Sean and they are my boys. I just dyed my hair blonde with my friend Cody and all the other swimmers for our swim championships. I wanna play baseball in college and get a degree in some kind of investment or finance.

Hi, my name is Cody Jordan and I am 14 years old. I go to school at Shepaug Valley School and I live in Roxbury, CT. I dont really have any hobbies but I like to go outside and play sports. I also just dyed my hair blonde with Austin for our School swim team tournament. I am not too sure on what I want to be when I get older but I’m sure I will figure it out someday. I also don’t know where I would want to live when I get older.

I was born in New Jersey and moved to Connecticut when I was seven. My favorite thing to do is hang out with friends and my family. I also enjoy listening to music to relax. I plan on going to college and have a good career I love to do.

I occasionally like to play videogames. I have a dog named Willow, she’s pretty chill. I plan to go to college and hope to receive a scholarship.
